Neither. The 8900 is a standard-motion slide — no damper, no ramp, no detent. The drawer stays wherever you push it and opens freely. If you need soft-close on a heavy load, look for a rated soft-close model in this weight class.
A face-frame cabinet sets the cabinet side back from the front frame, so the rear of the slide needs support. Add rear mounting brackets sized for the 8900 to carry the back end of the slide in face-frame construction. In a frameless cabinet, the slide mounts directly to the flat interior panel.
