The 4-7/8 inch center-to-center spacing is sized for the fronts that a smaller pull would leave feeling under-dressed: wide base drawers, full-height pantry doors, and any panel where the hardware needs to anchor the visual weight of the front rather than perch at the center of it. The tab form reinforces that sense of scale. Unlike a bar pull carried on two posts, the tab is a single flat element flush to its own footprint, which keeps the horizontal line clean across a slab or a minimally profiled shaker door.
