This Sugatsune AP-20 is a triangular hanger plate in Polished Stainless Steel, designed to fasten to the back of a frame or panel so the piece can be hung from a wall hook or pin. It is the component that stays hidden behind the object, not the hook that goes into the wall.
A triangular hanger plate mounts flush to the back of a picture frame, mirror, or decorative panel. The triangular form provides two fastening points at the base and a single hanging point at the apex, so the plate sits stable against the frame back and presents a clean hanging loop or slot at the top. The object hangs from whatever wall hardware the installer chooses; this plate is the frame-side half of that system, not the wall-side half. At 13/16 inch wide and 1-3/16 inch tall, it sits well within the rabbet or back frame of most standard frames without interfering with the glazing or the backing board.
The plate is stainless steel with a Polished Stainless Steel finish. Polished stainless reads as a bright mirror-like surface, which matters less on a component that mounts to the back of a frame than on visible hardware, but it does mean the surface is smooth, consistent, and will not mark a painted or lacquered frame back with rust bleed over time. Stainless steel is also harder than the zinc alloy used in much decorative hardware, which is relevant for a plate that will carry the full weight of the framed piece at two fastening points.
