The full-extension travel brings the bin completely clear of the cabinet face so nothing is hidden in the back, and the soft-close mechanism takes control of the return so the door closes quietly under its own damped motion.

The damping is built into the slide mechanism at the top of the carriage. As the bin returns, the soft-close slows and completes the travel so the unit settles back into the cabinet without impact.
