Hettich Optimat self-close hinge is a concealed 3/4 inch overlay 3D face frame hinge that closes the door quietly and out of sight, which keeps face frame cabinet fronts clean while controlling door motion. This Optimat clip-on hinge is a two-piece compact hinge, so the hinge arm disconnects from the mounting portion, which helps during cabinet assembly, finishing, or door adjustment. The hinge is a concealed cabinet hinge in the Hettich Optimat line, which supports a consistent hardware family across a project using the same technical geometry. The hinge is designed for door thickness up to 3/4 inch, so it works within standard cabinet door construction using typical 19mm stock. A 105 degree opening angle lets the door swing wide enough for normal cabinet access while still controlling the arc in tight runs.
This Optimat face frame hinge provides side, depth, and height adjustment using cam mechanisms, so alignment happens at the hinge rather than by altering doors or cases. Side adjustment under 1 inch overlay is plus or minus 1.3mm cam, and over 1 inch overlay is plus or minus 1.5mm cam, which allows fine tuning of reveal lines along face frames. Depth adjustment of plus 2.6mm cam moves the door in and out relative to the case, which helps flush doors to adjacent fronts or end panels. Height adjustment of plus or minus 1.4mm cam shifts the door up or down on the frame, which helps line up top and bottom edges across multiple doors. These 3D adjustments work together to correct minor drilling variations while keeping gaps even and professional.
This hinge is specified as a 3/4 inch overlay face frame hinge, so it is intended for cabinet doors that overlay the face frame by that dimension, which is common in many kitchen and built-in layouts. The door thickness rating up to 3/4 inch, or 19mm, matches typical cabinet door stock, which keeps hinge geometry consistent with standard rail and stile profiles. Because the cup diameter is 35mm with an 11mm minimum drilling depth, the hinge fits into standard European-style cup bores, which allows boring on CNC, line boring equipment, or dedicated hinge jigs without changing tooling. The 105 degree opening angle gives full reach into most cabinets while keeping the door swing controlled around adjoining cabinets or walls, which helps when cabinets are installed in tight corners or galley runs.
This hinge is a 6-way adjustable face frame hinge, so side, height, and depth shifts are available at each hinge, which lets installers dial in reveals after doors are hung. Side adjustment of plus or minus 1.3mm or 1.5mm through cams allows precise left-right movement, which corrects minor drilling offsets and brings stiles into parallel with face frame edges. Depth adjustment of plus 2.6mm cam shifts the door closer to or farther from the cabinet, which helps align doors flush with face frames or adjacent panels without refitting hinges. Height adjustment of plus or minus 1.4mm cam lets the door move up or down along the frame, which is critical for matching rail lines across wide runs of doors. The hinge meets and exceeds the minimum requirements of ANSI/BHMA A156.9 standard, which indicates the design has been tested against recognized cabinet hardware performance criteria for motion cycles and function.
The Hettich 9284998 is an Optimat clip-on two-piece compact concealed cabinet hinge, so it mounts inside the cabinet and allows the arm to disconnect from the mounting part during installation.
The hinge is specified for 3/4 inch overlay, so the door covers that amount of the face frame, which sets the visible reveal and influences spacing between adjacent doors.
The hinge is designed for door thickness up to 3/4 inch, or 19mm, so it matches common cabinet door construction without changing standard milling or edge profiles.
The hinge has an integrated Silent System, so the self-close function is damped, which slows the final closing motion and reduces impact on the cabinet frame and door.
The hinge uses a 35mm cup diameter with 3mm cup distance and 11mm minimum cup depth, so standard 35mm boring tools and patterns can be used on doors.
The hinge provides side cam adjustment, depth cam adjustment of plus 2.6mm, and height cam adjustment of plus or minus 1.4mm, so door position can be finely tuned.
The Hettich Optimat self-close hinge as described is a concealed face frame hinge with 3/4 inch overlay, 35mm cup, and 105 degree opening angle, so it matches many standard cabinet door and frame conditions. The 6-way 3D cam adjustments, Silent System, and door thickness rating up to 3/4 inch all support clean reveals and controlled closing on typical residential and commercial cabinets. For projects using concealed face frame hinges with these dimensions and overlay, this Hettich 9284998 Optimat hinge aligns technical details with practical cabinet installation needs.
