Not every cabinet drawer needs full rear access. Bathroom vanity drawers, closet organizer pull-outs, and utility cabinet drawers used for everyday grab-and-go items work perfectly well when the last few inches stay inside. The 552H is the right undermount for those applications — you get the clean underside look without paying for full-extension travel that the installation does not need. It also fits situations where cabinet depth is limited and a full-extension runner would be tight against the back panel. Where full rear access is a requirement, step up to the full-extension TANDEM plus BLUMOTION line instead.
The 552H slide is formed steel with a zinc finish, the same corrosion-resistant coating across Blum's TANDEM undermount program. Because the slide mounts out of sight beneath the drawer box, the zinc finish is a functional choice rather than a decorative one — it protects the steel through years of daily cycles in dry indoor environments. The slide is not rated for wet or exterior use.

It can, but face-frame installs require the matching TANDEM rear mounting brackets to support the back of the slide behind the frame. Those brackets are series-specific and sold separately. Check that the brackets you order are spec'd for the 552H, not the 563H or MOVENTO series.
At 3/4 extension, the drawer opens roughly three-quarters of its length — on a 21 inch box, that leaves the last several inches of the drawer inside the cabinet. If you need the entire drawer to come out to the cabinet face, this is the wrong slide; choose the full-extension TANDEM plus BLUMOTION 563H series instead.
Only if they were built to Blum's 552H specification: 21 inch nominal length, the correct box width for the required side clearance, bottom recess, rear notch, and locking-device drilling. An off-spec box will not seat correctly on any undermount slide.
The 552H is a standard-motion slide with no integrated soft-close or self-close damper. The drawer slides freely and stops where it is pushed. If soft-close is required, the TANDEM plus BLUMOTION 563H series adds integrated BLUMOTION damping in the same full-extension undermount form factor.
