The two-bin layout lets the household sort at the point of disposal rather than carrying items across the room to a second receptacle. Because the carriage extends fully, the bin at the back rolls out as far as the one in front, so neither bin becomes the forgotten one at the back of the cabinet. The black finish on the bins and carriage keeps the unit visually consistent against dark cabinetry or inside a cabinet where a neutral interior is preferred.
The 53WC carriage is finished in black and sits on bottom-mount slides rated to 90 pounds, which is enough margin for two bins loaded with a week's worth of kitchen waste. The soft-close mechanism takes over as the carriage nears the closed position, so the final inch of travel is damped and the door does not slam. Door-mount hardware attaches the cabinet door to the carriage front so opening the door and pulling the bins out happen in one motion. The standard door-mount bracket ships with this unit. Rev-A-Shelf also sells a narrow door-mount bracket and a wide door-mount bracket as separate accessories for the 53WC series if the standard bracket does not suit the door configuration.
The soft-close mechanism controls the closing motion, bringing the carriage to a damped stop as it returns into the cabinet. The opening motion is not damped.
