Amerock Thoreau backplate identifies this part as a decorative backplate from the Amerock Thoreau Series, so it pairs visually with other Thoreau components on a project. As a backplate, it sits behind a pull or knob to create a defined footprint on the cabinet face, which helps visually organize hardware runs on doors and drawers. The 5-1/16 inch center-to-center layout ties directly to standard pull drilling, so it works where that hole spacing is already established in fronts. The polished nickel finish brings a bright metallic look that matches other polished nickel hardware in the same space, keeping the job consistent when multiple openings are involved. The Amerock branding on this backplate signals that it belongs to Amerock Corporation's decorative hardware family, which helps installers and shops keep part numbers and finishes aligned across cabinet lines.
This backplate is described as 5-1/16 inch center-to-center, which aligns the plate length to pulls using that same spacing, so the outer edges of the backplate visually frame the pull posts on a cabinet front. The 128mm callout in the product description reflects the metric representation of that center-to-center distance, which keeps the part usable on layouts referenced in either imperial or metric systems. Being classified in Decorative Hardware & Moldings and Backplates, Amerock indicates that the piece is intended to mount behind cabinet hardware, so it functions as a trim element around the pull mounting points. Positioning the backplate to match predrilled 5-1/16 inch or 128mm pull holes allows installers to place it without changing the established drilling pattern on cabinet doors or drawer fronts.
The Amerock Thoreau Series label identifies this piece as part of Amerock Corporation's decorative hardware lineup, so it naturally pairs with Amerock Thoreau pulls on cabinet doors and drawers. As a backplate in the Decorative Hardware & Moldings category, it is intended to sit between the cabinet face and the chosen pull or knob, creating a defined border around the hardware footprint on the surface. The 5-1/16 inch center-to-center description indicates that its length corresponds to pulls drilled on that spacing, so it fits installations where those holes already exist and a coordinating backplate is required for the final look. With the polished nickel finish specified in the description, it suits projects that use polished nickel cabinet hardware, allowing the backplate to visually match other polished nickel components across a room or bank of cabinets. The Thoreau Series styling reference helps designers and installers maintain a consistent design language, since the backplate reflects the same series name that may appear on the pulls chosen for the job.
The 128mm center-to-center notation in the product data aligns with metric-based cabinet layouts, which supports shops that drill fronts using metric systems while still matching 5-1/16 inch pulls in specification sheets. By stating both 5-1/16 inch and 128mm values, Amerock provides a direct link between imperial and metric measurements, which reduces the chance of spacing confusion when reading different plan sets. The Amerock BP37603PN manufacturer part number uniquely identifies this Thoreau backplate, so it can be referenced consistently across drawings, purchase orders, and installation notes on larger projects. The classification under Backplates and Amerock product class confirms that this component is meant to act as a decorative plate behind cabinet hardware, which clarifies its role in the hardware stack for installers and specifiers. The polished nickel finish callout ties the part to polished nickel hardware schedules, allowing teams to match this backplate with other polished nickel Amerock pieces in the same environment. The connection to Amerock Corporation as the brand places the backplate within a recognized decorative hardware program, which simplifies future reorders or expansions when additional openings or matching cabinetry are added later.

The 5-1/16 inch center-to-center dimension matches pulls drilled on that spacing, allowing the backplate to align with existing hardware holes on cabinet doors or drawers.
