The tight twist version packs more turns per inch than a standard twist, which gives the pattern a finer, denser look at close viewing distances. At a half-inch wide it is scaled for drawer fronts and cabinet door stiles, where a wider profile would crowd the panel, and for edge banding on shelves or furniture pieces where the rope accent is a narrow accent line rather than a primary decorative element.
Maple is a hard, pale, close-grained species. Its density makes it well behaved under a router and gives the tight twist pattern crisp definition at the peaks and valleys of each turn. Supplied unfinished, the molding is ready to be stained, painted, or clear-coated to match the surrounding cabinetry on site.
