The Fastcap #10 x 1-1/8" Powerhead screw is a flat head, coarse-thread wood screw sized for applications where material thickness is limited and a short, clean-seating fastener matters. It drives with a T20 Torx bit and uses a Type 17 Auger point to start quickly and clear chips as it penetrates.
At 1-1/8", this screw is sized for work where stock thickness rules out anything longer. It suits cabinet back panels fastened to a 3/4" case side, drawer bottoms captured in a groove and pinned at the edge, thin plywood overlays, and hardware backing in shallow material. In these spots, a standard 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" screw either risks breaking through the face or simply carries more length than the joint needs. The short shank keeps the fastener contained in the material without guesswork about over-penetration.
The oversized flat head gives this screw a wider bearing surface than a standard #10 flat head, spreading clamping load across more material at the surface. The underhead nibs do the countersink work as the screw is driven, cutting a seat in softwood, plywood, MDF, and most cabinet-grade panels without a separate drill step. The zinc finish is suited to dry, interior assembly environments typical of cabinet shops and millwork production.
This screw fits naturally into cabinet shops and millwork operations that work with thin components and need a reliable short-shank fastener on hand alongside their longer-length stock. It works equally well for production runs where the same fastener is driven repeatedly into engineered panels, and for finish installation where a clean, flush head matters on visible interior surfaces. Homeowners building shop fixtures or completing a cabinet installation will find the 200-piece box a practical quantity for projects that call for this length specifically.
When fastening into material that is 3/4" thick or less, 1-1/8" gives you a controlled depth that holds without the tip breaking through the opposite face. The extra 1/8" on a 1-1/4" screw can be enough to push through in thin stock or shallow assemblies.
Not in most cabinet materials. The nibs mill their own seat as the head drives home in softwood, plywood, MDF, and particleboard. In very hard woods, a shallow countersink pilot can help the head seat cleanly and reduce surface tearout.
The Type 17 Auger point has a fluted tip that clears wood fibers as the screw drives rather than compressing them. This lowers the torque needed to penetrate and reduces the splitting risk at the tip, particularly in engineered panels and denser wood composites.
The zinc finish on this screw is intended for dry indoor work. It is not rated for exterior exposure or contact with pressure-treated lumber, where ACQ chemicals accelerate corrosion of standard zinc plating.
A T20 Torx bit. The six-lobe recess provides positive engagement with less cam-out than a Phillips drive, which is useful when driving repeatedly into cabinet panels on a production run.
When the material is thin and a longer fastener is the wrong tool, the Fastcap 1-1/8" Powerhead screw keeps the assembly clean, the head flush, and the tip where it belongs.
