The Fulterer FR 5001 ECD SMT is a 12 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide with integrated soft-close, rated 100 lb per pair and finished in zinc. It is built for kitchen, bath, and utility drawers where smooth, quiet operation matters and a functional metal finish fits naturally into the cabinet interior.
A 12 inch slide is the right choice for shallow drawers in compact spaces: bathroom vanities, spice pullouts, small utility cabinets, and base cabinets with limited interior depth. Full extension at this length still delivers complete access to the back of the drawer — a meaningful advantage in a tight vanity where the last few inches of storage are otherwise out of reach. The soft-close damper is especially welcome in bath environments, where a quiet close is as important as durability. Pair one slide on each side of the box, and the whole drawer glides and closes on the same mechanism.
The slide is cold-formed steel with a zinc electroplate finish. Zinc is the segment's standard working finish for indoor side-mount slides: it resists corrosion in dry interior environments, holds up to repeated cycling, and sits quietly beside the drawer box without drawing attention. The zinc tone is consistent with the natural metal look of the cabinet interior and coordinates with the mounting hardware that goes in with it. This is an indoor finish — not rated for wet, washdown, or exterior conditions.
Cabinet shops building production vanities and small-format base cabinets will find the 12 inch length and 100 lb rating covers a wide range of standard shallow drawers in one SKU. Designers specifying quiet hardware in bath remodels benefit from the soft-close at a length that fits the typical 12 to 14 inch vanity cabinet depth. Contractors installing kitchen spice pullouts or bathroom accessory drawers get the same damped close they expect from longer slides, scaled to the shorter box. The non-handed format simplifies installation: no orientation check, no mismatched pairs.
It is a true damped soft-close. An integrated damper module catches the drawer near the closed position and slows it to a controlled, silent stop. There is no spring that pulls the drawer shut — the drawer must be pushed close enough for the damper to engage.
Build the drawer box 1 inch narrower than the cabinet opening to provide the required 1/2 inch of side clearance per slide. The slide itself is non-handed and fits either side of the box.
Side-mount slides need rear support in face-frame construction because the cabinet side is set back from the frame. Add the matching series-specific rear mounting brackets, sold separately, to support the back end of the slide.
The zinc electroplate is the standard working finish for this slide class and coordinates with similarly finished mounting brackets and screws. Once installed, the slide sits beside the drawer box and is not prominent in the finished cabinet.
The FR 5001 uses a lever disconnect; operating the levers on both slides simultaneously releases the drawer member so the drawer pulls free without tools.
The Fulterer FR 5001 in zinc brings damped, full-extension performance to the 12 inch drawer — a length that shows up constantly in vanities, compact kitchens, and utility cabinets where the quiet close gets noticed every day.
