The Knape and Vogt 8350 series is a 16 inch, 3/4-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide rated 75 lb per pair, finished in bright zinc, and sold in bulk packaging for shops equipping multiple cabinets at once. It is a practical, no-frills choice for drawers where full rear access is not a requirement and a stay-closed detent is.
This slide suits drawers where budget efficiency matters more than full-depth access. Think bathroom vanity drawers, closet built-ins, laundry room storage, and utility cabinets where the contents sit toward the front anyway. The hold-in anti-rebound detent adds a practical bonus in those settings: a drawer pushed shut stays shut, rather than drifting or rebounding open after a firm close. At 16 inches, this length fits shallower cabinets and drawer boxes built to match, giving designers and builders a right-sized option without paying for slide length the box will never use.
The zinc finish is the standard corrosion-resistant option for this series, appropriate for dry indoor installations including kitchens, baths, offices, and closets. It is a functional plated finish — not a decorative surface and not stainless steel — and it holds up well through years of normal cabinet service. The bulk-pack format matches how production shops consume slides: in quantity, without retail packaging that adds cost but not value.
Cabinet shops running moderate-volume production on closet organizers, vanities, or utility cabinetry will find the bulk-pack 8350 in zinc a sensible stock item. The 75 lb per pair rating covers a wide range of residential drawer applications, and the non-handed design keeps the parts bin simple. Designers specifying production closet or bath work can call out the 8350 knowing it installs cleanly in frameless cabinets and, with the appropriate rear mounting brackets added separately, in face-frame construction as well. One pair per drawer, with 1/2 inch of clearance required on each side.
Not quite — it means the drawer travels approximately three-quarters of the slide's nominal length. On a 16 inch slide, the back portion of the drawer box stays inside the cabinet at full open. If you need everything accessible from the front, a full-extension slide is the right choice instead.
It is a mechanical detent that holds the drawer in the closed position after you push it shut, preventing it from bouncing back open. It does not pull the drawer closed on its own and does not slow the close — it simply keeps the drawer where you put it.
No. The 8350 is non-handed, so both slides in the pair are identical. Order by quantity — one pair per drawer — and install either slide on either side.
The slide itself mounts to the cabinet side, but face-frame construction sets the side panel back from the front frame. You will need compatible rear mounting brackets to support the back of the slide — those are sold separately and are series-specific, so confirm the bracket matches the 8350 series before ordering.
Build the drawer box 1 inch narrower than the cabinet opening to leave 1/2 inch of side clearance for each slide. Maximum recommended drawer width is not stated in the source data for this series — size conservatively and check the KV 8350 installation guide for your application.
The KV 8350 in zinc does exactly what a production shop needs from a 3/4-extension slide: smooth ball-bearing travel, a detent that keeps drawers closed, straightforward non-handed installation, and bulk packaging that keeps the parts room stocked without extra overhead.
