The Würth #8 x 2-1/4" flat head assembly screw is a coarse-thread, square-drive fastener built for cabinet carcass construction, panel joining, and general wood assembly where a 2-1/4-inch length reaches through thicker stock and still pulls the joint tight. Lubricated from the factory and packed 3,000 to the box, this screw is a production-floor staple.
Most cabinet box construction uses 3/4-inch sheet goods, and a 1-1/4-inch or 1-1/2-inch screw handles that well. But when the assembly calls for a face frame attached to a box side, a build-up block, a rail behind a thicker panel, or any joint where two layers of 3/4-inch material need to be bridged, the 2-1/4-inch length gets through and leaves enough thread in the second member to hold. It is also a natural fit for pocket-hole and angled-drive joints in structural members where a shorter screw would not reach the far face. This is the length to keep stocked when a shop routinely deals with thicker assemblies, multi-layer carcasses, or site installation where panel depths vary.
The factory-applied lubricant on this screw is dry to the touch and does not transfer to finished surfaces. It lowers the torque required to seat the screw, which matters most in dense materials and at high drive speeds where un-lubricated screws build heat and increase the risk of head stripping. The flat head is a standard countersunk profile sized to sit flush in a pre-drilled or self-milled countersink. Note that this screw does not carry nibs under the head, so a pre-drilled countersink is the clean way to achieve a flush seat in hardwood or dense panel materials.

The lubricant is dry-film and stays on the screw. It does not transfer to the wood surface in a way that would interfere with glue joints or finishing when the screw is driven normally.
Nibs under a flat head mill their own countersink as the screw seats. Without nibs, a pre-drilled countersink gives the cleanest flush seat, especially in hardwood, dense MDF, or laminate-faced panels where the head would otherwise ride proud or crack the surface.
The lubricated finish on this screw is intended for indoor wood assembly. For exterior work or contact with pressure-treated lumber, a corrosion-rated screw is the right choice.
