This Würth #8 x 1-1/4-inch flat head assembly screw pairs a coarse thread and sharp point with a lubricated finish to lower driving friction on busy production lines and busy install days. The flat head seats flush and the Phillips #2 drive fits the most common bit already on the driver. At 1-1/4 inches, it lands squarely in the range for fastening through or into 3/4-inch cabinet and furniture panels.
A 1-1/4-inch screw is well matched to panel-to-panel connections in 3/4-inch cabinet stock, drawer box assembly, light face-frame attachment to cabinet bodies, and hardware backing in thin sheet goods. The length provides enough thread engagement to hold the joint firmly without punching through the back face of the panel. It is also a common choice for interior trim blocking and light furniture assembly where the joint stack measures around 1 to 1-1/8 inches. Cabinet shops running high volumes of these connections benefit most from the 7,500-piece pack, which reduces the handling time that comes with frequent restocking.
The lubricated finish on this screw is dry to the touch but active at the thread surface during driving. It reduces the friction between the thread form and the substrate, which means the driver works less hard on each screw. In a production cabinet shop driving hundreds or thousands of screws a day, lower per-screw torque adds up to less heat in the driver motor, less bit wear, and a lower rate of cam-out on the Phillips recess. The flat head with a countersink or pre-drilled seat produces a clean, flush result in finished interiors without a separate filling step.
Production cabinet shops are the core user for the 7,500-piece box format. At that volume, consistency matters: a coarse-thread Phillips flat head with a lubricated finish behaves the same on the thousandth screw as on the first. Furniture manufacturers assembling drawer boxes and carcasses in MDF or particleboard will recognize the thread and point combination as a reliable workhorse in those substrates. Millwork shops and finish carpenters who run longer production runs and want a screw that installs without fuss also keep this size on the shelf. This screw is for dry indoor work in wood and engineered panels.
The sharp point self-starts in particleboard and MDF without a pilot hole in most situations. For thin edges or positions close to the edge of the panel, a pilot hole will reduce the chance of the panel face splitting.
It uses a #2 Phillips bit, which is the standard size for #8 screws and is included in virtually every bit set already in the shop.
A 1-1/4-inch screw threads fully through the first 3/4-inch panel and bites into the second by about 1/2 inch, which is adequate for a glued-and-screwed joint but on the shorter side for a screw-only connection. For screw-only face-to-face joints in 3/4-inch stock, a 1-5/8-inch or 2-inch length gives more thread engagement in the second piece.
The lubricant is applied to the thread and shank, not the head face. In glued assemblies, squeeze-out at the joint line is unlikely to be affected by the thread lubricant. If the screw head will be visible under a clear finish, drive it fully seated so only the flat head face is exposed.
No. The lubricated finish is designed for dry indoor work. For damp locations or exterior applications, choose a screw with a corrosion-rated coating.
The Würth #8 x 1-1/4-inch lubricated flat head assembly screw delivers consistent, low-friction driving in the connections that make up the bulk of interior cabinet and furniture production, packed in a quantity that keeps the line moving without interruption.
