Face-frame cabinets are a different situation: the face frame sits proud of the cabinet side, so the back of the slide hangs without support unless a rear mounting bracket anchors it to the cabinet back wall or rear panel. This bracket is the piece that closes that gap. Without it, the slide's rear end is unsupported and the drawer will not track cleanly under load.
