The Hettich Sensys thick door hinge brings self-close performance and precise dowel mounting to doors up to 32mm thick, in a half overlay configuration that suits both face-frame and frameless cabinets.
Standard concealed hinges are sized for doors in the 16 to 22mm range. When a design calls for thicker stock, a standard 35mm cup cannot seat correctly in the door without punching through or sitting proud. This hinge solves that with geometry matched to doors up to 32mm, so the cup bores cleanly and the arm carries the door at the right stand-off from the cabinet. The half crank arm is the geometry for partial overlay, where the door covers a portion of the cabinet side rather than the full width, the setup found on double doors sharing a single center partition or on any run calling for a consistent partial reveal.
The 95 degree opening angle is specific to this application. A thick door needs a tighter swing limit so its added mass clears the cabinet front as it opens. That restricted angle is what makes the geometry work, not a shortcoming of the design.
The hinge body is steel in a nickel finish, consistent with the Sensys platform's production-grade build. For a run of cabinetry, the finish coordinates with other Hettich Sensys hardware already in the family. The dowel cup and arm tolerances are held to the Sensys standard, so adjustment after install is reliable: depth runs plus 3mm and minus 2mm, side adjustment runs plus or minus 2mm, keeping doors true as a job settles.
This hinge fits cabinet shops and contractors working with thick-door designs on either frameless boxes or face-frame cabinets. The dowel mount is a natural choice for CNC-bored doors where drilling dowel holes into the layout is already part of the workflow. A matching Hettich base plate is required and sold separately, as the hinge arm connects to the plate and does not mount directly to the cabinet side. Hettich cross plates are specific to the Hettich system and provide the three-way adjustment the Sensys platform is known for. For doors in the standard 16 to 22mm range, the standard-door version of this hinge is the correct selection.
The 95 degree limit is by design. A thick door has added depth at the hinge edge, and a wider swing would cause it to strike the cabinet front. The reduced angle is what lets the door clear properly.
No. The hinge arm connects to a base plate that mounts to the cabinet, and that plate is sold separately. Use a Hettich plate matched to your cabinet construction, as plates are specific to the Hettich system.
This hinge is self-close: a spring pulls the door shut over the last few degrees. Soft-close uses a damper to slow the door so it settles quietly. This hinge closes on its own but does not cushion the final contact.
Dowel mounting requires pre-bored dowel holes in the door at the correct diameter and position. If your doors are drilled for cup screws rather than dowels, use the screw-on cup version of this hinge instead.
When the design calls for doors thicker than standard stock at a half overlay, this Sensys hinge delivers the geometry, build, and adjustment to hang them correctly on either cabinet type.
