The Blum METABOX 330M is a 16 inch (400mm) drawer side and slide kit in White, pairing a 4 inch steel side profile with a full-extension, soft-close running system in one complete unit. It is designed for painted and white-interior cabinet builds where the drawer box color needs to read as part of the finished cabinet rather than as a raw structural element.
The 16 inch nominal length is the right call for cabinet bays that cannot take a full 18 or 21 inch runner — think upper cabinet pull-outs, shallow bathroom vanity drawers, and small pedestal or nightstand builds. In those applications, a longer slide simply does not fit the cabinet depth, and a shorter one compromises travel. At 400mm this kit lands where the cabinet is genuinely shallow rather than where a longer slide was trimmed to fit.
The 4 inch side height handles cutlery, hardware, bath accessories, and other standard drawer loads. Shops building a run of white-interior frameless cabinets can pull this kit off the shelf and keep the box color consistent without a separate painting step on the hardware.
The side profiles are formed steel finished in White — a solid, opaque powder-coat that holds up to the contact and handling a drawer side takes in daily use. The White finish is not a thin film or vinyl wrap; it is the same steel-body construction found across the METABOX M series, applied in a color that works with white melamine, painted MDF, and primed wood interiors.
The soft-close mechanism is built into the runner, not an add-on clip or accessory. It engages automatically as the drawer closes and holds its action across the load range the 4 inch side is designed to carry. This is damped soft-close, not a self-closing ramp — the drawer decelerates to a silent stop rather than snapping shut.
Cabinet shops running white-finished lines — shaker kitchens, painted bath vanities, laundry and mudroom cabinetry — use this kit where the drawer box interior is visible when the front is open and the hardware color needs to disappear into the cabinet. A white drawer side in a white cabinet reads as intentional; a raw steel or nickel-colored side does not.
Designers specifying furniture-grade residential cabinetry with painted or white-lacquered interiors will find the soft-close motion and white finish combination suitable for bedrooms, home offices, and bath applications where quiet operation and a finished appearance both matter. The 16 inch length makes this a natural choice for any build where the cabinet depth limits the slide size.
The kit includes the steel drawer side profiles and the slide runner assembly. You supply the drawer front, bottom panel, and back panel cut to the METABOX specification. It is the full structural system; you complete the box with your own material.
This is a single kit for one drawer — both sides and the runner set for one complete pull. One kit per drawer is the correct ordering quantity.
Standard push-to-open hardware conflicts with the soft-close mechanism on a plain METABOX kit. If you need combined push-to-open and soft-close, look at Blum's TIP-ON BLUMOTION systems, which are engineered to deliver both functions together.
The METABOX system is built for frameless (32mm) cabinet construction. Face-frame installations require rear mounting brackets specific to the METABOX series; check that you have the correct brackets on hand before you build.
ORGA-LINE is the interior organization line for TANDEMBOX drawers, and AMBIA-LINE is built for LEGRABOX. METABOX uses its own interior organization accessories. Cross-line inserts are not compatible with METABOX side profiles.
When the drawer box color is part of the finished cabinet design, reach for a kit that matches. This 16 inch White METABOX 330M delivers full-extension travel, integrated soft-close, and a steel side that holds its finish — in the length that fits shallower bays and the color that disappears into white cabinetry.
