A pilaster strip replaces fixed shelf pins or drilled peg-hole rows with a slotted channel that accepts shelf clips at any position along its length. Mount a pair of pilasters on opposing cabinet walls and the shelf rests on four clips, each of which can slide up or down the slot as storage needs change. This is especially useful in a pantry base cabinet where the mix of tall bottles, mid-height boxes, and short cans changes seasonally, or in a utility cabinet where the shelves need to move to accommodate bulky stock.
