This Salice concealed hinge is built for half overlay doors on thick-door applications, with a self-close spring and screw-on mounting for both face-frame and frameless cabinets.
Half overlay is the configuration for double-door cabinets where two doors meet on one shared partition, each covering roughly half the stile or panel edge. This hinge carries the half crank geometry that keeps both doors clear of each other when open. The 94 degree swing is intentional here: on a thick door, a wider angle would drive the door edge into the cabinet front. The reduced angle is the correct engineering for that stock, not a shortcoming.
The 40mm cup and 52mm bore pattern replace the standard 35mm dimensions found on most concealed hinges. Standard cup and bore hardware will not seat properly in thick-door stock, so this hinge is sized from the start for that application. The 35mm cup bores into doors in the 16 to 22mm range; for thicker stock, this is the hinge to specify. A matching Salice base plate mounts to the cabinet and the hinge arm fastens to it, with the plate ordered separately.
The hinge body is steel with a nickel finish. Nickel reads as a warm, slightly lustrous neutral that coordinates naturally with other nickel hardware across pulls, knobs, and slides in the same run. Height adjustment of plus or minus 2mm and side adjustment of plus 4.5mm to minus 1.5mm let you dial in an even reveal after the cabinet is set, which matters most when two doors on a shared partition need to line up precisely.
Cabinet shops running thick-door face-frame or frameless work, and remodelers replacing worn hardware on an existing thick-door cabinet, are the primary audience for this hinge. The screw-on mount is a fixed, tool-in-hand connection, so it suits installers who prefer a locked-down mechanical fastening over a tool-free clip. If the project calls for a cushioned, damped close rather than a spring pull, the Silentia+ soft-close version of this series handles that application. For doors in the standard 16 to 22mm thickness range, a standard 35mm cup hinge is the correct pick instead.
Thick doors require a deeper, wider cup to seat the hinge correctly. A standard 35mm cup bored into thick stock either bottoms out too shallow or breaks through the door face. The 40mm cup with the 52mm bore pattern is sized for the thickness this hinge is designed to serve.
For thick-door applications, yes. The 94 degree angle is engineered so the door clears the cabinet front without collision, which a wider angle on a thick door would not do reliably. It provides workable access for standard cabinet contents.
No. The hinge connects to a Salice base plate that mounts to the cabinet, and the plate is a separate purchase. Use a Salice plate matched to your cabinet construction. Plates are brand-specific and a plate from another brand will not connect to this hinge.
No. This is a self-close hinge: a spring draws the door shut over the last few degrees of travel. It does not slow or cushion the close. For a damped, quiet close, choose the Silentia+ soft-close version of this series.
Specify this hinge when the job calls for half overlay doors on thick stock, a self-close spring, and a nickel finish that coordinates across the run.
