A 12 inch undermount slide covers the shorter drawer runs that come up constantly in real cabinet work: spice drawers, small utility drawers in bathroom vanities, shallow base drawers in a kitchen island, and drawer stacks where the lower openings are sized for storage rather than depth. The full-extension travel matters at this length because a drawer that only opens 3/4 of the way in a 12 inch run leaves very little usable space.
