This is the 26 inch drawer member from Knape and Vogt's 8400 series: a full-extension, side-mount ball bearing slide component rated 100 lb per pair, supplied in zinc finish and packaged in bulk for shop or production use. It pairs with the matching cabinet member to complete one side of a drawer installation.
At 26 inches, this drawer member suits deeper cabinet runs: base cabinets with full-depth drawers, utility storage where the whole drawer needs to clear the opening, and any application where rear access matters. Full extension means the intermediate member carries the drawer completely past the cabinet face, not just most of the way. The hold-in anti-rebound detent is a mechanical catch, not a spring or damper — it holds the drawer closed and stops bounce-back, but the drawer opens freely with a normal pull. For shops building kitchen runs, office cabinetry, or shop furniture in volume, the Bulk-Pack format reduces handling and keeps the cost-per-pair in line with production budgets.
The drawer member is cold-formed steel with a zinc finish — the standard corrosion-resistant coating for ball bearing slides used in indoor cabinetry. Zinc is a functional finish: it protects the steel through years of service in dry interior environments and is largely hidden inside the cabinet when the drawer is open. This is the zinc version of the 8400 series; the same series is available in other finishes for applications where the slide color matters. Do not use this slide in exterior, high-humidity, or washdown environments.
Cabinet shops ordering drawer members as a separate line item from cabinet members will find the Bulk-Pack practical for bin-stocking and job-lot pulls. The non-handed format means one SKU covers every drawer position on the job. Contractors replacing worn or damaged drawer members in existing 8400 series installations can match the original slide without measuring the old hardware's handedness. At 26 inches, this length is a natural fit for 24-inch nominal drawer boxes in full-depth base cabinets, as well as shop and garage storage where deeper drawers are standard. The 100 lb per pair rating covers most residential and light commercial applications at this length.
This is the drawer member only — the part that attaches to the drawer box. You also need the matching 8400 series cabinet member (the part that mounts to the cabinet interior) to complete a working pair. Order both components for each drawer.
Hold-in anti-rebound is a mechanical detent: it holds the drawer shut and prevents bounce-back but does not slow or damp the closing motion. Soft-close uses a damper to decelerate the drawer over the last inch. This slide has the detent only — no damper, no spring pull.
It can, but face-frame cabinets need rear support for the back of the slide. Add the appropriate KV rear mounting brackets for the 8400 series, sold separately. The cabinet member installs against the face frame at the front; the bracket supports the rear. Without a bracket, the back of the slide hangs unsupported.
The 8400 series uses a lever disconnect. Extend the drawer fully, squeeze or actuate both disconnect levers, and pull the drawer member free of the cabinet member. No tools required.
Build the drawer box 1 inch narrower than the cabinet opening — the slide requires 1/2 inch of side clearance per side. The 8400 series carries a recommended maximum drawer width of 24 inches; confirm your opening stays within that limit before ordering.
When the build calls for 26 inch full-extension slides in zinc and the job volume makes bulk pricing worthwhile, this drawer member delivers the KV 8400 series reliability that cabinet shops have standardized on for years.
