KV 6400 16" Hold-In/Anti-Rebound Side Mount Full Extension 75 lb Ball Bearing Drawer Slide, Poly-Pack, Stainless Steel, 6400P SS 16

Stainless Steel Full-Extension Drawer Slide for Demanding Environments

The Knape and Vogt 6400 Series is a 16 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide finished in Stainless Steel, rated 75 lb per pair, with a hold-in anti-rebound detent that keeps the drawer closed once shut. It is the stainless option in the 6400 line, suited to installations where a corrosion-resistant finish is the deciding factor.

Key Features

• Stainless Steel finish provides a cleaner, more corrosion-resistant surface than standard zinc-plated steel for demanding indoor environments.
• Full extension brings the entire drawer out to the cabinet face, so the back of the drawer is fully reachable.
• Hold-in anti-rebound detent keeps the drawer from bouncing back open after it is pushed shut.
• 75 lb weight rating per pair covers a loaded kitchen, shop, or utility drawer at this slide length.
• Non-handed design means both slides in the pair are identical — no left or right sorting during installation.
• 1/2 inch side clearance per side follows the standard side-mount ball bearing format, so this slide drops into existing cabinet layouts without modification.

Where Stainless Finish Earns Its Keep

Most side-mount ball bearing slides ship in bright zinc, which is the practical standard for a dry interior cabinet. The Stainless Steel finish on the 6400 Series steps up for situations where zinc's appearance or corrosion performance is not enough: laundry room cabinetry that sees regular moisture, workshop drawers exposed to cutting fluids or frequent cleaning, food-prep areas where a polished metal finish is preferred, and any install where the slide will be visible and the look of zinc does not fit the design. The hold-in anti-rebound detent is well suited to these same environments — a shop or utility drawer that gets closed firmly every day benefits from a detent that stops it from bouncing back open, without adding a spring or damper to the mechanism.

Construction and Finish

The 6400 Series members are formed steel with a Stainless Steel finish applied across the slide profile. This is not a stainless alloy slide — it is a steel slide with a stainless finish — so it is intended for indoor applications where the finish provides enhanced appearance and resistance compared to standard zinc plating. The slide travels on ball bearings in full-length raceways for consistent pull across the slide's range of motion. At 16 inches, the closed slide length matches drawer boxes built for that nominal depth, and the standard 1/2 inch per-side clearance means the drawer box is built 1 inch narrower than the cabinet opening.

Who This Slide Fits

The 6400P SS 16 is a practical choice for designers specifying hardware in kitchens or bath rooms where a stainless aesthetic carries through the drawer hardware, and for cabinet shops building utility or laundry cabinetry where moisture contact is routine. At 75 lb per pair, it handles everyday residential and light commercial drawer loads. This is a standard-motion slide with a hold-in detent — there is no soft-close damper and no spring assist. If the project calls for damped closing, look to the soft-close variants in the 6400 family. This SKU ships in a Poly-Pack; confirm the sold-as unit before ordering for large runs.

The Right Slide for Finish-Forward or High-Use Installations

When zinc is not the right finish for the job — whether for appearance, environment, or both — the 6400 Series in Stainless Steel delivers full extension and a stay-closed detent in the same standard side-mount format, at a size that suits most residential and light commercial drawer builds.
