Grass self-close overlay face-frame hinges provide a concealed hinge solution for face-frame cabinets with overlays 1-7/16 inches and greater, so doors cover more of the frame while keeping hardware hidden in everyday use. The one piece hinge and base plate combination forms a single assembly, which simplifies layout on the door and frame and keeps parts together during installation and adjustment on the job. As concealed cabinet hinges, these components mount out of sight, supporting a clean cabinet appearance while still allowing door removal and adjustment when required. The nickel finish on the hinge gives a consistent metal surface, which supports a uniform look across cabinet runs where the interior hardware may be visible when doors are open. As part of the Grass America line, this hinge matches the concealed hinge category used across many cabinet installations.
This Grass concealed cabinet hinge uses a screw-on mounting method, so the hinge is secured to the door and face frame with screws during installation. The 11 mm, or 7/16 inch, cup drilling depth defines how deep the hinge cup pocket is bored into the door, guiding drill press or jig setup before production work. Height adjustment at the mounting screw allows vertical movement of the door relative to the cabinet, which helps bring multiple doors into line along a face frame after all hinges are fastened. The 2-dimensional adjustment built into this one piece hinge and base plate combination offers practical fine-tuning of door position, which supports consistent gaps and smoother operation across a full cabinet run.
The TEC 863 45MM variable overlay description identifies this hinge as part of the TEC 863 series with a variable overlay function, which suits cabinet designs that require overlays 1-7/16 inches and greater on face-frame construction. As a concealed face frame hinge, it is intended for use on cabinets built with a front frame, where the door overlays the frame by the specified amount while the hinge hardware remains hidden when the door is closed. The self-close function of this hinge brings the door shut at the end of travel, which supports everyday cabinet use where doors need to return to the closed position without additional latching hardware. The 108 degree screw-on design defines the standard opening angle before any angle reduction, which guides layout near adjacent cabinets, appliances, or walls when planning door swing in a kitchen or shop layout.
The one piece hinge and base plate combination described in the web description ties the mounting geometry of the hinge and plate together, which reduces cumulative error between components and supports repeatable placement from cabinet to cabinet. The 2-dimensional adjustment capability built into this concealed cabinet hinge allows the installer to correct minor drilling or screw placement variation, which reduces rework time when aligning multiple doors along a face frame run. Height adjustment at the mounting screw provides a clear adjustment point for vertical alignment, so a screwdriver at that location can bring door tops and bottoms into a straight line after installation. The 11 mm, or 7/16 inch, cup drilling depth specification standardizes door boring across a project, which helps keep hinge cups seated consistently and supports reliable self-close performance. The availability of an 85 degree angle reduction clip for this hinge gives the option to limit the door opening angle from the typical 108 degrees, which can prevent interference in tight installations where full swing is not desirable. The nickel finish on this Grass America hinge provides a consistent surface over the moving parts, which supports smooth interaction where metal components contact during opening and closing.
This hinge is a concealed face frame hinge, so it is intended for use on face-frame cabinets where the hardware mounts to the frame and remains hidden when the door is closed.
The 02284-15 hinge is specified for overlays 1-7/16 inches and greater, which suits cabinet doors designed to cover a larger portion of the face frame.
The TEC 863 variable overlay hinge uses a screw-on mounting method, so the hinge is fastened to the door and face frame with screws during installation.
This hinge requires an 11 mm, or 7/16 inch, cup drilling depth in the door, which defines the boring depth for hinge cup installation.
The hinge has 2-dimensional adjustment and height adjustment at the mounting screw, allowing fine-tuning of door position and vertical alignment after mounting.
An 85 degree angle reduction clip is available for this hinge, allowing the standard 108 degree opening angle to be reduced where a smaller swing is preferred.
The Grass self-close overlay face-frame hinges in this TEC 863 45MM variable overlay, screw-on version combine a one piece hinge and base plate with 2-dimensional adjustment, so they suit installers who want concealed cabinet hinges that support overlays 1-7/16 inches and greater. When a project calls for a nickel-finished, self-close concealed hinge with 11 mm cup drilling depth and height adjustment at the mounting screw, this 02284-15 hinge provides those defined mounting and adjustment characteristics for consistent cabinet work.
