Grass self-close face-frame hinges deliver a concealed cabinet hinge solution that pairs a one piece hinge and base plate combination, so installers set a single component rather than coordinating separate parts during a job. This hinge provides self-close action, which pulls the door shut at the end of travel, helping doors sit consistently against face frames in everyday use. As a concealed cabinet hinge from Grass America, the hardware stays hidden behind the door, supporting clean front appearances on finished cabinets. The hinge is designed for overlays 1-7/16 inches and greater, so it supports larger overlay doors commonly used on face-frame cabinets. A 108 degree dowel configuration defines the opening angle before any optional reduction, giving doors a wide swing for access in typical residential or commercial cabinetry layouts.
This TEC 863 42mm variable overlay hinge is specified for overlays 1-7/16 inches and greater, so the hinge geometry supports doors that cover a generous portion of the face frame. The 11 mm, or 7/16 inch, cup drilling depth sets the vertical plunge required for the hinge cup, fitting standard 35 mm concealed hinge boring equipment configured to that depth. Two-dimensional adjustment allows lateral and depth changes at the hinge, letting installers shift doors slightly side to side and in or out relative to the face frame without moving the bore. Height adjustment at the mounting screw adds vertical control, supporting fine realignment of door tops and bottoms along a cabinet run. The hinge design is manufactured in the USA, which supports consistent production standards across projects requiring repeat hardware performance.
This Grass concealed cabinet hinge is part of the concealed face frame hinges category, so it fits applications where a face frame is present and the hardware is intended to stay hidden behind the door. The variable overlay design identified in the TEC 863 42mm variable overlay description works with overlays 1-7/16 inches and greater, making it suitable for cabinets where increased door coverage is planned. The 108 degree dowel hinge opening supports wide door travel, giving better access to cabinet interiors in kitchens, baths, or storage units. When an 85 degree angle reduction clip is used with this hinge, door travel can be limited to a smaller opening angle, helping doors avoid contact with neighboring cabinetry or fixtures installed close to the hinge side. The nickel finish integrates into typical cabinet interiors, keeping the hinge visually consistent with other nickel-tone hardware in the same installation.
The one piece hinge and base plate combination described in the web information simplifies repeat installation because each hinge sets both cup engagement and frame connection at once, reducing variables when laying out multiple doors. Two-dimensional adjustment allows side-to-side and in-out tuning at the hinge body, so small drilling deviations can be corrected by turning adjustment screws instead of reboring the cup hole. Height adjustment at the mounting screw adds a vertical correction point, useful when aligning top edges of doors along a run of face-frame cabinets or correcting for frame irregularities. The 11 mm, or 7/16 inch, cup drilling depth gives a clear target for boring operations, which helps maintain consistent hinge engagement and smooth self-close function across all doors. Because the hinge is a self-close design, correct adjustment keeps the closing action predictable, supporting even gaps and reliable door seating over time.
This Grass concealed cabinet hinge is described as a face-frame hinge, so it is intended for cabinets with a face frame rather than frameless box construction.
The TEC 863 variable overlay hinge is specified for overlays 1-7/16 inches and greater, so it supports larger overlay doors over the cabinet face frame.
The hinge uses an 11 mm, or 7/16 inch, cup drilling depth, so doors need a bore drilled to that depth to seat the concealed cup correctly.
Two-dimensional adjustment lets installers shift doors laterally and in or out at the hinge, which refines reveals and alignment without moving hinge cup holes.
This Grass hinge is identified as made in USA, indicating domestic manufacture for projects that specify USA-produced cabinet hardware.
An 85 degree angle reduction clip is available for this 108 degree hinge, so door opening can be reduced when nearby walls or cabinets are close.
The TEC 863 42mm variable overlay hinge from Grass America combines a concealed cabinet hinge design with self-close action, giving face-frame projects a clean look and controlled closing. With a one piece hinge and base plate combination, two-dimensional adjustment, height adjustment at the mounting screw, and an 11 mm, or 7/16 inch, cup drilling depth, it suits installers who want predictable drilling and straightforward alignment across multiple doors. For overlays 1-7/16 inches and greater, this nickel-finished hinge offers the specified geometry and opening angle needed to plan overlay coverage and door swing in new or updated cabinets.
