A Zinc-Finished Over-Travel Slide Built for Heavy Drawers That Need Full Clearance

This is a 26 inch side-mount ball bearing drawer slide from Knape and Vogt's 8815 series, rated 190 lb per pair, with 1 inch of over-travel that carries the drawer past full extension so the back of the box clears countertop overhangs and deep face frames. It arrives in a bulk pack, zinc finished, and ready for shop or production use.

Key Features

• 190 lb load rating per pair — well above the standard 100 lb cabinet class, for drawers that carry real weight.
• 1 inch over-travel — the drawer member extends 1 inch past the slide's nominal length, so the full drawer box clears obstructions at the cabinet face.
• Steel ball bearings in full-length raceways — smooth, consistent travel under load across the full 26 inch stroke.
• Non-handed design — both slides in the pair are identical; no left or right sorting needed at the bench.
• 3/4 inch side clearance per side — wider than the standard 1/2 inch; size the drawer box accordingly.
• Zinc finish on cold-formed steel — the standard indoor corrosion-resistant finish for side-mount ball bearing slides.

Where Over-Travel Pays Off

Standard full-extension slides bring the back of the drawer to the cabinet face. Over-travel carries it 1 inch further. That extra inch matters when a countertop overhangs the cabinet opening, when a thick face frame sets the drawer back from the front edge, or when the work calls for pulling a heavy drawer all the way clear without reaching into the opening. At the 26 inch length and 190 lb rating, this slide suits deep storage drawers, tool drawers, and utility cabinets where the contents are dense and rear access is non-negotiable. Standard motion means there is no self-close, soft-close, or detent: the drawer stays wherever it is left, which suits installations that will add a push-to-open mechanism or where a closing feature would interfere.

Materials and Finish

The slide is cold-formed steel with a zinc electroplate finish. Zinc is the working standard for side-mount ball bearing slides in indoor cabinetry: it resists surface corrosion through years of shop service without the cost of stainless or a decorative coating. The zinc finish blends with metal cabinet interiors and painted wood boxes alike. This is an indoor finish and is not rated for wet, washdown, or exterior environments.

Sizing and Fit

The 8815 series requires 3/4 inch of clearance per side, so build the drawer box 1-1/2 inches narrower than the cabinet opening — more than the 1 inch offset that standard 1/2-inch-clearance slides call for. The slide is non-handed, so one quantity covers both sides of each drawer. This bulk-pack format is stocked for production shops and contractors ordering by the pair at volume; confirm the pack quantity against your drawer count before placing the order. In face-frame cabinets, rear mounting brackets are required to support the back of the slide — these are sold separately and must be matched to the 8815 series.

The Right Slide for Heavy Work With No Compromise on Reach

The KV 8815 in zinc delivers 190 lb capacity, 1 inch of over-travel, and a non-handed zinc-finished design in a bulk-pack format built for shops that install more than one drawer at a time.
