Rated 75 lb per pair, this 3/4-extension ball bearing slide holds the tray closed until pulled and holds it open until pushed — so the platform stays put in both positions without the user reaching for it a second time.
In media centers, home offices built on dark cabinetry, or workstations with black laminate interiors, a zinc-finished slide reads as a contrast line every time the tray opens. The Black finish on the 8150 lets the hardware recede. It is the right choice when the visual priority is the tray itself or the cabinetry around it, not the mechanism underneath. The 8150 is cold-formed steel with a Black finish suited to dry indoor environments. Ball bearings in full-length raceways give the slide a smooth, consistent pull that nylon roller slides do not match, particularly when the tray is loaded and extended. The dual detent mechanism is purely mechanical — there is no damper, no spring, and nothing to wear out from a closing force. Push the tray in and the hold-in detent catches it; pull it open and the hold-out detent holds it at the extended position until the user pushes it back.
The 8150 is designed for keyboard slides and the pull-out platforms that go with them: under-desk keyboard shelves, thin drawer-style trays on home office furniture, and similar light-duty side-mount applications. At 3/4 extension, the tray opens roughly three-quarters of the 14 inch slide length. The rear portion of the tray stays inside the cabinet at full open — this is not a full-extension slide, and that is normal for keyboard tray applications.
