Omega National Verona Range Hood 42 X 36 Red Oak

A Red Oak Hood Shell For Kitchens That Want the Grain to Show

The Omega National Verona is a 42-inch wide, wall-mount decorative wood range hood shell in red oak, supplied ready-to-finish and including a Broan-compatible liner so the installation has the structural pieces in place from day one.

Key Features

• Red oak construction brings pronounced grain character that takes stain well and coordinates with oak cabinetry.
• 42 inches wide by 36 inches tall with a 19-inch depth for a commanding presence over wide cooktops.
• Wall-mount design installs against the wall above the cooking surface, independent of adjacent cabinets.
• Ready-to-finish so stain, paint, or a clear coat can be applied to match the surrounding kitchen exactly.
• Broan-compatible liner included to accept a Broan ventilation insert, selected separately to suit the cooktop.
• Not prefinished, giving the finishing trade or the homeowner full control over the final color and sheen.

Where Red Oak Changes the Room

Red oak is a wood that reads differently than maple or alder. The grain is open and pronounced, the figure is more active, and under a medium-to-dark stain it develops depth that a painted hood simply cannot replicate. In a kitchen where the perimeter cabinets are red oak or the island features the same species, this shell ties the hood into the wood story of the space rather than treating it as a separate appliance. At 42 inches wide and 36 inches tall, it has the scale to anchor the wall above a six-burner range or a wide induction cooktop without feeling undersized.

This is the decorative enclosure. It frames the cooking zone and provides the finished wood surface. The ventilation, meaning the blower, the filters, and the controls, comes from a Broan insert chosen to match the cooktop load and duct configuration. The liner that bridges the shell and the insert is already included.

Finishing and Material Details

The shell arrives unfinished, which is the correct starting point for a custom kitchen. Red oak accepts oil-based and water-based stains readily, and its open grain can be filled before finishing for a smoother result or left open for a more tactile surface. A clear topcoat preserves the natural tone; a medium walnut or espresso stain pushes the grain into high contrast. Because the shell ships ready-to-finish, the color can be dialed in on-site alongside the cabinet doors and drawer fronts rather than matched from a catalog chip.

The Broan-compatible liner is included with the shell, so the structural housing for the ventilation insert is not a separate sourcing step. The ventilation insert itself is ordered separately and sized to the kitchen.

Who This Shell Suits Best

Cabinet shops and finish carpenters building a custom red oak kitchen will find this shell the most direct path to a matched hood, since it starts in the same species and takes the same finishing system as the surrounding boxes. Designers specifying a wood-forward kitchen with an active grain character will appreciate the latitude that an unfinished shell provides. Homeowners renovating an existing red oak kitchen can bring the hood into the palette without replacing the cabinetry. The 42-inch width suits ranges from 36 to 42 inches wide, depending on the design intent and the required clearances.
