KV 8419 16" Self-Close/Hold-In/Anti-Rebound Side Mount Over-Travel 100 lb Ball Bearing Drawer Slide, Poly-Pack, Zinc, 8419P 16

16 Inch Over-Travel Self-Close Drawer Slide For Drawers Under Overhangs

The Knape and Vogt 8419 series is a 16 inch side-mount ball bearing drawer slide with self-close spring action and 1 inch of over-travel beyond full extension, rated 100 lb per pair. The zinc finish is the catalog's standard, purpose-built for indoor cabinet work where the slide stays largely out of sight once installed.

Key Features

• 1 inch over-travel — the drawer member travels 1 inch past the slide's full extension, clearing countertop overhangs and deep face frames.
• Self-close spring mechanism — a spring pulls the drawer fully shut once pushed within the capture zone, no damper involved.
• 100 lb weight capacity per pair — handles a fully loaded kitchen or utility drawer.
• Non-handed design — both slides in the pair are identical; no left/right sorting at the bench.
• Steel ball bearings in full-length raceways — smooth, consistent travel under load across the full cycle life.
• Zinc finish — electroplated steel provides standard indoor corrosion resistance at a practical price point.

Where the Extra Inch Makes the Difference

Most kitchen and shop drawers sit under an overhanging countertop or behind a deep face frame. A plain full-extension slide brings the drawer box to the cabinet face and stops there — the countertop edge is still in the way when you reach for something in the back. The 8419's 1 inch over-travel pushes the drawer past that edge so the rear contents are reachable without angling your hand around the overhang. It is also useful in face-frame cabinets where the frame reduces the effective opening: the extra inch compensates for the setback and delivers the same practical access as a full-extension slide in a frameless box.

The self-close spring mechanism means the drawer does not stay where you leave it — push it to within the capture zone and the spring pulls it the rest of the way home. That is a positive, undamped close: the drawer finishes shut on its own, which is useful in kitchens and utility areas where hands are often full.

Steel, Zinc, and the Indoor Standard

Cold-formed steel members carry the load; electroplated zinc protects the steel through years of indoor service. Zinc is the workhorse finish in this slide family — not decorative, not stainless, but proven for dry interior environments. The finish keeps these slides priced for production cabinet work and volume installs. This SKU ships in a poly-pack, one pair per bag with mounting hardware included, ready for the bench without extra sorting.

The Right Application for the 8419

This slide fits production kitchens, cabinet shop builds, and contractor installs where two conditions apply together: the drawer sits under an overhang or behind a face frame, and a self-close finish is wanted without stepping up to a soft-close damper. At the 100 lb per pair rating it covers most residential kitchen and utility drawers. The non-handed format simplifies ordering for shops running high drawer counts — one SKU covers every opening, left or right. For face-frame installs, add the appropriate rear mounting brackets for this series; they are sold separately and are series-specific.

Built for the Work That Needs a Little More Reach

When the countertop edge is in the way and a self-close finish is on the spec, the 8419 in zinc is a straightforward answer — one SKU, one pair per drawer, no left-right confusion, and the 1 inch of extra travel that puts the back of the drawer where your hand can actually reach it.
