Zinc Front-Mount Face Frame Bracket for KV 8400 Series Slides

The Knape & Vogt 8404 is a front-mount face frame bracket that adapts KV 8400 series drawer slides for installation in face-frame cabinets, finished in zinc for lasting durability in the cabinet interior.

Key Features

• 8400 series compatibility — engineered specifically for KV 8400 series slides, keeping the mounting geometry exact.
• Front-mount design — attaches at the face frame opening so the slide is properly positioned when the cabinet side sits behind the frame.
• Face-frame cabinet fit — bridges the gap between the frame face and the cabinet side that standard frameless mounting cannot address.
• Zinc finish — a functional, corrosion-resistant coating suited to the closed cabinet environment.

The Problem This Bracket Solves

Face-frame cabinets set the cabinet sides back from the front opening, which leaves the rear end of a drawer slide unsupported if no rear bracket is used. The 8404 addresses the front end of that equation: it mounts to the face frame opening and holds the front of the 8400 series slide at the correct height and depth, so the drawer runs true from front to back. Without this bracket, installers are left improvising the front anchor — a shortcut that shows up as a racking or sticking drawer later in the install.

Finish and Construction

The zinc finish on the 8404 is a practical choice for hardware that lives inside a cabinet box. It resists the minor humidity swings common in kitchen and bath cabinetry, keeps the bracket looking clean alongside zinc-finished slide members, and holds up through repeated drawer cycling. This is a metal bracket built to the same hardware standards as the slides it supports — not a plastic clip or a field-fabricated shim.

Where It Fits Best

This bracket is the right call whenever KV 8400 series slides are going into a traditional face-frame cabinet and the front of the slide needs a secure, accurate anchor at the frame. It suits cabinet shops running 8400 series slides as their standard drawer hardware, remodelers retrofitting new slides into existing face-frame cases, and finish carpenters who need a bracket that matches the zinc hardware already on the job. If the cabinet is frameless, this bracket is not needed — the slide mounts directly to the cabinet side panel without it.

The Right Anchor for the Face Frame

A drawer slide is only as solid as its mounting points — the 8404 gives the front of your 8400 series installation a precise, purpose-built anchor at the face frame so the drawer tracks cleanly from day one.
