The 8400 series requires 1/2 inch of clearance per side. Build the drawer box 1 inch narrower than the cabinet opening to account for both slides.
The slide itself works in face-frame and frameless cabinets, but face-frame installations need support at the rear of the slide. Add the matching KV rear mounting brackets for the 8400 series, sold separately. The front of the slide can mount to the face frame directly through the 8400's standard mounting holes.
Knape and Vogt recommends a maximum drawer width of 24 inches for the 8400 series. For wider drawers, consider moving up to the 8500 series or another higher-duty option.
