The Knape and Vogt 8450 series is an 18 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide with an integrated Force Management soft-close damper, rated 100 lb per pair and finished in zinc. Sold as a Bulk-Pack, it is suited to cabinet shops and contractors fitting multiple drawers at once.
An 18 inch slide is the natural choice when the cabinet's interior depth falls in the 18 to 20 inch range — typical of base cabinet drawers in kitchens, bath vanities, and office credenzas. Full extension means the entire drawer clears the cabinet opening, so nothing is buried at the back of a pots drawer or behind stacked files. The Force Management damper is a true soft-close mechanism: a dampening cylinder slows the drawer over the last inch of travel. That is a damped close, not a self-closing ramp, so the drawer settles quietly even when pushed firmly. For shops running production cabinet work, the Bulk-Pack format keeps the bench stocked without repeated small orders.
The slide members are cold-formed steel, and the zinc finish is the segment's working standard for indoor cabinet hardware. It is a functional, corrosion-resistant coating suited to dry interior environments — kitchens, offices, closets, and utility rooms. Zinc is not a decorative finish and is not rated for wet, humid, or outdoor use. It is a damper. The Force Management mechanism catches the drawer in the last inch of travel and slows it to a controlled, quiet close. It is not a self-closing ramp, and the drawer will not pull itself shut from mid-travel.

The 8450FM Bulk-Pack ships as complete pairs. Each pair includes both the cabinet member and the drawer member needed for one drawer.
It can, but face-frame construction sets the cabinet side back from the front frame, so the rear of the slide needs support. Add the matching KV rear mounting brackets — sold separately — for a solid face-frame installation. The brackets are series-specific and are not interchangeable with other brands.
Full extension means the drawer member travels approximately the full slide length, clearing the cabinet face entirely. The 18 inch figure is the closed slide length, not the exact travel distance — but full extension means the complete drawer contents are accessible.
