This is a 14 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide from Knape and Vogt's 8850 series, rated 200 lb per pair with Force Management soft-close damping and a zinc finish. It arrives in a bulk pack, sized for shops installing multiple drawers at a time.
At 200 lb per pair, the 8850FM handles loads that would push a standard 100 lb cabinet slide to its limit. Heavy-duty utility drawers, deep pantry pull-outs, workshop storage, and wide drawers stocked with tools or hardware are the natural fit. The soft-close damper makes sense in any setting where drawer slam is an issue — not just residential kitchens, but commercial casework, server-room cabinetry, and office builds where noise control matters. The 14 inch length suits compact cabinet runs: base cabinets with shallow drawers, pedestal files, and short bench-depth enclosures where a longer slide simply will not fit.
The slide is cold-formed steel with a zinc finish — the standard corrosion-resistant surface for side-mount ball bearing slides used indoors. Zinc is a functional choice: it protects the steel members through years of cycling without adding cost or visual weight. The finish blends into the cabinet interior and holds up through the range of humidity conditions in a normal shop or commercial building. This is an indoor slide; zinc plating is not rated for wet, marine, or exterior environments.
Cabinet shops building runs of heavy-storage casework, commercial installers specifying a single slide across a project, and facilities teams sourcing for multiple workstations all benefit from the bulk-pack format. The non-handed design means one SKU covers both sides of every drawer in the run. For face-frame cabinets, rear mounting brackets are required at the back of the slide and are sold separately — the brackets are series-specific to the 8850, so confirm the bracket part before ordering. The 8850FM has been tested beyond 50,000 cycles including the soft-close module, meeting and exceeding KCMA, BHMA, and BIFMA performance standards.
The 8850 series is a heavier-built slide with a larger profile than the standard 100 lb class. The wider 3/4 inch per side clearance accommodates that profile. Build the drawer box 1-1/2 inches narrower than the cabinet opening to get the fit right.
Per pair. A pair of two 8850FM slides carries 200 lb total — not 200 lb each.
The 8850FM uses KV's Force Management damping — a cylinder with a balanced spring — which is engineered to handle heavier drawer loads without the damper bottoming out. On a lightly loaded drawer the action feels similar to other soft-close slides; on a drawer near the rated load, it stays controlled where a lower-rated damper might not.
The 8850FM uses a butterfly lever disconnect, so the drawer can be lifted free once extended without additional tools.
In frameless cabinets the slide mounts directly to the side panel. Face-frame installs require rear mounting brackets at the back of the slide; those brackets are series-specific to the 8850 and are sold separately.
The KV 8850FM in zinc bulk-pack puts a tested, 200 lb rated, soft-close side-mount slide in the hands of builders who need volume without compromising on motion quality or load capacity.
