These are heavy-duty rectangular nylon spacers from Bainbridge Manufacturing, designed to offset drawer slides 1 inch from the cabinet wall or face frame so the hardware seats and aligns correctly during installation.
Face-frame cabinets set the cabinet side back from the face, and that gap puts the slide mounting surface in the wrong position for the drawer box. A 1 inch spacer closes that gap, bringing the slide out to the correct depth so the drawer runs parallel to the opening rather than canted toward the frame. The same need comes up when mounting slides on a partition or mid-stile where the usable wall surface is narrower or recessed relative to a standard frameless panel. In either case, shimming with scrap material introduces variation between drawers; a uniform nylon spacer gives every slide the same starting point.
Nylon polyamide holds its shape under sustained clamping loads better than foam tape, cardboard, or cut wood shims. It does not compress, creep, or absorb moisture in the way that softer materials can over time, so the slide position you set at installation is the position that stays. The white color is molded through, not painted, which means it will not chip or peel where the screw head seats.
Cabinet shops running face-frame production lines benefit most from keeping a supply on hand: consistent spacer thickness eliminates slide-height variation drawer to drawer and speeds up installation by removing the need to custom-cut shims. Contractors retrofitting slides into existing face-frame casework will find the 1 inch offset covers the most common frame setback depth. Installers working on partitioned cabinet runs where slide surfaces are set back from standard depth will also reach for these regularly.
Frameless cabinets mount slides directly to the panel side without a setback, so a spacer is rarely needed there. These are best suited to face-frame and partition applications where the mounting surface sits back from the opening.
The spacer attaches with the same screws used for your slide's cabinet-member mounting holes. Check your slide manufacturer's recommended fastener size; the screw passes through the spacer and into the cabinet side or frame.
Yes. Because they mount between the cabinet surface and the slide's cabinet member via standard screw holes, they work with side-mount ball-bearing slides and bottom-mount Euro slides from any manufacturer, as long as the hole pattern lines up.
Bainbridge manufactures spacers in multiple thicknesses. If 1 inch does not match your frame setback, check the other spacer sizes in this family for the offset you need.
One uniform spacer behind every slide is a small part that prevents a frustrating problem: drawers that rack, bind, or sit unevenly because each one was set at a slightly different depth.
