Most cabinet and shop drawers run fine on zinc-plated ball bearing slides. Zinc works indoors, stays dry, and handles the loads. The ESR-8 in 304 stainless is for the situations where zinc is not enough: a food prep station hosed down at the end of a shift, a marine locker exposed to salt air, a laboratory cabinet wiped with disinfectant, or an outdoor kitchen where humidity is a constant. The 304 alloy resists oxidation and surface corrosion under these conditions in a way that zinc plating does not.
