The Knape and Vogt 4450 Series is a 22 inch full-extension soft-close side-mount ball bearing drawer slide with a zinc finish, rated 65 lb per pair. The low-profile steel body fits tightly to the drawer box and cabinet side, and the integrated damper settles the drawer shut without slamming — a quiet, dependable close on every cycle.
The 4450 Series earns its place in residential kitchen and bath cabinetry where drawer slam is a complaint and space inside the cabinet is tight. The 22 inch length suits standard base cabinet depths, and full extension means the back of the drawer is fully reachable — no reaching past the cabinet face for the item stored at the rear. The 65 lb per pair rating covers most kitchen drawer loads: utensils, flatware, dry goods, and similar contents. For drawers carrying heavier stock — cast iron, tools, or loaded files — step up to a higher-rated slide in the 100 lb class or above.
The slide members are cold-formed steel finished in zinc, the working standard for side-mount ball bearing slides used in dry indoor cabinetry. Zinc plating protects the steel through years of regular cycling in a kitchen or bath environment. The finish is functional rather than decorative — once the drawer is closed, the slide is out of sight against the cabinet interior. It pairs cleanly with white, almond, and natural wood interiors without competing visually.
The Bulk-Pack format is built for shops running drawers in quantity. Both slides in each pair are non-handed, so the install sequence is straightforward: mount one slide per side, no sorting required. The 1/2 inch side clearance per side is the standard for this segment — build the drawer box 1 inch narrower than the cabinet opening and the fit is dialed in. In face-frame cabinets, the rear of the slide needs support; add the appropriate rear mounting brackets for your face-frame construction, sold separately. For frameless cabinets on the 32mm system, the slide mounts directly to the panel.
True soft-close — the 4450 Series uses an integrated damper that slows the drawer to a quiet, controlled close. It is not an undamped spring or ramp that pulls the drawer shut; it catches the drawer and decelerates it smoothly.
The 4450 Series is rated 65 lb per pair. That is below the 100 lb class of the full-height 8400-style slides, so match it to the drawer's expected load. For heavier drawers, choose a 100 lb or 150 lb class option in the catalog.
The 4450 Series requires 1/2 inch of side clearance per side. Build the drawer box 1 inch narrower than the cabinet opening to account for both slides.
Yes, but the rear of the slide needs support in a face-frame installation. Add the appropriate rear mounting brackets for your face-frame construction — brackets are sold separately and are series-specific.
Bulk-Pack means the slides are packed loose in a carton rather than in individual retail bags. It is the standard format for cabinet shops ordering in volume rather than single-drawer quantities.
The KV 4450 Series brings soft-close performance and a compact side profile together in a zinc-finished slide built for production cabinetry — a practical combination for shops that need the drawer to close quietly, take up minimal clearance, and arrive ready to install in quantity.
