KV 8900 4-Pair Box 10" Side Mount Full Extension 500 lb Ball Bearing Drawer Slide, Zinc, 8900B 10

10 Inch Full-Extension Ball Bearing Drawer Slide for Heavy-Duty Storage and Shop Drawers

This is a 10 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide from Knape and Vogt's 8900 series, rated 500 lb per pair and finished in zinc. It is built for compact, heavily loaded drawers where the contents need to come all the way out to the cabinet face.

Key Features

• 500 lb weight capacity per pair — a true heavy-duty rating that puts this slide well above the standard 75–100 lb cabinet class.
• Full extension — the entire drawer clears the cabinet opening, so nothing is hidden at the back.
• 3/4 inch side clearance per side — wider than the standard 1/2 inch, so the drawer box must be sized accordingly.
• Steel ball bearing construction — full-length raceways keep travel smooth and consistent under heavy load.
• Non-handed design — both slides in the pair are identical; no sorting into left and right before installation.
• Zinc finish — electroplated zinc over cold-rolled steel for reliable indoor corrosion resistance.

Where This Slide Does Its Best Work

At 10 inches, this slide is short — and that is exactly the point. Compact drawers in shop cabinets, mechanic's tool chests, server and equipment racks, industrial storage, and heavy-duty utility cabinetry all call for a short slide that can carry a serious load. The 500 lb per pair rating means it handles steel tools, hardware bins, and dense storage that would overload a standard kitchen slide in short order. Full extension brings the entire drawer out to the cabinet face, so nothing is buried behind the drawer front when you need a part fast.

Materials and Finish

The slide is cold-rolled steel throughout, with a zinc electroplate finish that provides standard indoor corrosion protection. Zinc is the workhorse finish in this segment — functional, durable, and mostly out of sight beside an open drawer. This is an indoor slide; it is not rated for washdown, marine, or outdoor environments. The Bulk-Pack format ships the slides loose in a carton, suited to shop orders and production installs rather than retail display.

Specifying the 8900 Series

The 8900 series is the right choice when load is the primary selection driver and the drawer is compact. Cabinet shops outfitting a heavy-duty base unit, contractors building service carts, and industrial shops stocking a tool bank will find the 500 lb per pair rating more than sufficient. Because the 8900 series requires 3/4 inch of side clearance per side — not the 1/2 inch standard for most ball bearing slides — build the drawer box 1-1/2 inches narrower than the cabinet opening. In face-frame cabinets, the slide's back end needs rear bracket support; confirm the correct bracket for this series before ordering, as brackets are series-specific.

The Right Slide When Load Matters Most

When the drawer is short, heavy, and needs to open completely, the Knape and Vogt 8900 series in zinc delivers the load rating and full extension to keep heavy-use storage working smoothly over the long run.
