The Knape and Vogt 1300 series is a 12 inch, 3/4-extension Euro roller slide in a zinc plated finish, sold as a poly-pack pair with unhanded side mounting. Its hold-in/hold-out detent keeps the drawer firmly closed or fully open until you move it intentionally — a practical choice for work environments where a drawer that drifts is a problem.
The KV 1300's defining feature is its detent, not a closing ramp. The hold-in detent keeps a loaded utility drawer shut against vibration or accidental bumps; the hold-out keeps it at the fully open position while both hands are occupied. Those two behaviors make it a natural fit for shop benches, garage base cabinets, and office storage where the drawer needs to stay put at either end of its travel. The 12 inch length suits shallow applications — tool tray inserts, small-parts organizers, and narrow drawers in modular shop furniture — where a longer slide would overhang the cabinet interior.
The zinc plated finish is a functional, electroplated steel coating rather than an epoxy color coat. It is built for durability and corrosion resistance in dry indoor environments, and it does not need to color-match a cabinet interior — which makes it the practical choice when the inside of the cabinet is not a visible surface. The slide is steel throughout, with nylon rollers running in the formed steel tracks. For applications where the zinc finish needs to disappear, the 1300 series is also available in white and almond epoxy.
Shops, contractors, and facilities teams building or refitting utility storage will find the 1300 series straightforward to spec: non-handed pairs install without sorting, the poly-pack format is right for small-batch projects, and 75 lb at 3/4 extension is the workhorse class for most shop and light commercial drawers. If the project calls for drawers that pull fully shut on a self-close ramp rather than hold at the detent, look at the KV 1805 series instead — that line uses a closing ramp rather than a detent. The 1300 is also an indoor-only slide; zinc plating handles dry service but is not rated for wet, washdown, or exterior environments.
No. The 1300 uses hold-in and hold-out detents — it keeps the drawer at the closed or open position without pulling it shut. If you want a ramp that closes the drawer automatically, that is self-close and it is a different feature not present in this series.
No. The 1300 is non-handed — both slides in the pair are identical and install on either side of the drawer without modification.
Poly-pack means the pair ships together in a retail-style polybagged set. One poly-pack contains the two slides needed for one drawer.
This is a 3/4-extension slide, so on a 12 inch slide the rear portion of the drawer stays inside the cabinet at full open. The back few inches are not accessible — plan accordingly for any contents you need to reach from the back.
Side-mount slides in face-frame cabinets typically need rear mounting brackets or sockets to support the back end of the slide. Check whether your face-frame depth requires additional rear support hardware before installing.
When the job calls for drawers that stay put at both ends of their travel and installation that moves quickly, the KV 1300 series in zinc delivers exactly that — no color matching, no handed sorting, just a solid detent slide ready for the next build.
