The hold-in/hold-out detent is not a soft-close and it is not a self-closing ramp — it is a mechanical catch at both ends of travel. That distinction matters most in environments where drawers are handled roughly or need to stay put without attention: a shop cart being rolled across an uneven floor, a utility cabinet in a garage, a workbench with a drawer that needs to stay open hands-free while tools are being sorted. The detent holds the position at both ends and releases with a normal pull or push.
