Because the slide is full extension, the entire drawer comes out to the cabinet face even in a shallow box, so the rear third of a packed file drawer is never buried. The hold-in anti-rebound detent is a mechanical catch: it keeps the drawer from bouncing back open after you push it shut. It can, but face-frame construction sets the cabinet side back from the front frame, so the rear of the slide needs support. Add the matching KV rear mounting brackets, sold separately. Without rear support in a face-frame cabinet the slide rocks under load at full extension.
