This is the right-hand cabinet member from Knape and Vogt's 8500 series, a 16 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing file drawer slide rated 150 lb per pair. It is engineered for file, lateral, and heavy storage drawers that demand more than the standard 100 lb cabinet class can deliver.
A loaded lateral file drawer full of folders, binders, or office supplies can easily push past 100 lb. The 8500 series is KV's answer to that reality: a 150 lb class slide designed specifically for file and lateral drawer applications where a standard cabinet slide would be undersized. Full extension means the rear of the drawer comes all the way out to the cabinet opening, so nothing gets buried. The hold-in anti-rebound detent is especially useful in file applications, where a firmly pushed drawer can bounce back and stay ajar — this slide keeps it shut until pulled.
The slide is cold-formed steel with a zinc finish, the working standard for side-mount ball bearing hardware in indoor office and shop environments. Zinc plating protects the steel members against moisture and wear in normal service. This is a functional finish — the slide sits beside the drawer box and is mostly out of sight when the drawer is closed. It is not a decorative or stainless finish, and it is intended for dry indoor use.
This SKU is the right-hand cabinet member only, sold in a Q-Pack quantity for production or shop use. It suits cabinet shops, office furniture manufacturers, and contractors equipping multi-drawer file pedestals or lateral cabinets. The 1/2 inch side clearance per side is the same as KV's standard 8400 series, so drawer boxes sized for the standard line fit the 8500 without modification. KV rates the 8500 for drawers up to 36 inches wide, making it the right call for lateral file applications where a narrower, lighter slide would be marginal.
This is the right-hand cabinet member only. A complete drawer installation requires one right-hand cabinet member, one left-hand cabinet member, and the corresponding drawer members. Order all components to avoid a partial installation.
No. The hold-in anti-rebound detent is a mechanical catch that holds the drawer closed and prevents bounce-back. There is no damper and no spring assist — the drawer does not slow as it closes, and it stays put only after you push it shut.
No. 16 inches is the closed length of the slide. Because this is a full-extension slide, the drawer member travels approximately the full slide length, bringing the complete drawer out to the cabinet face. Slide length and drawer travel are two different measurements.
The slide requires support at the rear in face-frame construction. Add the matching KV rear mounting brackets, sold separately, to back up the slide where the cabinet side is set behind the face frame. Rear brackets for the 8500 series are series-specific and do not interchange with other KV lines.
Q-Pack is a production quantity pack boxed for shop use rather than retail display. Confirm the piece count from the product spec block before ordering to ensure you have the right quantity for your job.
When the drawer is loaded with files and needs to close cleanly and stay that way, the 8500 series right-hand cabinet member gives you the load class, the full access, and the anti-rebound detent to get the job done right the first time.
