No. The detent is a mechanical catch that keeps the drawer from bouncing back open after it is pushed shut. There is no damper and no spring assist — the drawer neither slows on closing nor pulls itself home. It stays closed until intentionally pulled.
Not exactly. The 16 inches refers to the closed length of the slide. Full extension means the drawer member travels approximately that full length, bringing the entire drawer out to the cabinet face — but slide length and travel are two separate specs. The full drawer clears the opening; that is the practical result.
In frameless cabinets, the 8500 Series mounts directly to the cabinet side panel. In face-frame cabinets, rear mounting brackets are required to support the back of the slide. Brackets are sold separately and are series-specific to the KV 8500 line.
