This 24 inch (600mm) side-mount ball bearing drawer slide from Hettich's KA 5632 series brings the complete drawer out to the cabinet face, rated 90 lb per pair, with a standard-motion design that keeps the mechanism simple and the travel smooth.
A 24 inch slide length is the natural fit for full-depth base cabinets, where a shorter slide leaves drawer space on the table and a longer one simply will not fit. Full extension means the drawer comes all the way out — rear contents are visible and reachable without digging. That matters in a pots-and-pans drawer, a deep shop drawer full of hand tools, or a utility cabinet where the back half of the storage gets used as often as the front. The standard-motion design is the right call when a closing mechanism would interfere, such as drawers on a push-to-open retrofit, or simply when the application needs a clean, friction-free slide without a detent clicking on every open and close.
The KA 5632 is built from cold-formed steel members with a bright zinc electroplate finish. Zinc is the working standard for side-mount ball bearing slides: it resists the light corrosion of a typical indoor shop or kitchen environment without adding cost or visual bulk. The slide sits beside the open drawer box rather than beneath it, so the finish is functional rather than decorative. These are indoor-use slides; a wet or outdoor environment calls for stainless hardware instead.
Cabinet shops running full-depth base cabinet production will recognize the 24 inch length as a volume size: it matches the industry-standard 24 inch cabinet depth and drops into frameless cases straight off the 32mm hole pattern. Contractors retrofitting existing face-frame casework can use the same slide with the matching rear mounting brackets, sold separately, to support the back of the slide where the cabinet side is recessed. Homeowners and designers specifying a kitchen renovation get honest full-extension access and a 90 lb rating that covers everyday loads without overpaying for motion features the drawer does not need. The non-handed format means the same part number stocks for every drawer in the project.
No — 24 inches is the closed length of the slide. Because this is a full-extension model, the drawer travels approximately the full slide length, bringing the entire drawer box clear of the cabinet opening. Slide length and travel are two separate specs.
Standard motion means there is no soft-close damper, no self-close spring, and no hold-in detent. The drawer rolls freely and stops wherever it is left — open, closed, or anywhere in between. If you need a drawer that closes itself or stays put when fully open, look at the self-close or hold-in variants in this family.
No. The KA 5632 is non-handed — both slides in the pair are the same part. Order by quantity rather than by side.
The slide mounts directly to frameless cabinet sides on the standard 32mm hole pattern. For face-frame cabinets, rear mounting brackets are required to support the back of the slide where the cabinet side is set behind the face frame. Those brackets are sold separately and are series-specific.
Build the drawer box 1 inch narrower than the cabinet opening to leave the required 1/2 inch of side clearance for each slide. A maximum recommended drawer width is not stated in the available source data for the KA 5632; if drawer width is close to the cabinet opening, confirm with Hettich's installation guide before cutting the box.
The 24 inch KA 5632 covers the most common base cabinet depth with a straightforward, full-extension ball bearing slide —
