The Hettich KA 5632 is a 28 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide rated 90 lb per pair, built for the longer drawer openings that standard-length kitchen and office slides do not reach. It uses standard motion — no soft-close, no detent — so the drawer rides freely on steel ball bearings and stays wherever you leave it.
Most production cabinetry tops out at 22 or 24 inch slides. When the cabinet is deeper — a tall pantry column, a base cabinet under a peninsula, a workbench drawer box built to the wall — the 28 inch KA 5632 covers the run that shorter slides cannot. Full extension means the entire drawer comes out past the cabinet face, so the back of a long box is just as reachable as the front. Standard motion is the right call here when push-to-open or a dedicated soft-close system handles the closing action, or when the application simply does not need one.
The KA 5632 is formed from steel and finished in zinc — the proven indoor corrosion-resistant finish on side-mount ball bearing slides throughout this segment. Zinc is a functional, not decorative, finish: it protects the steel members through years of cabinet service and stays mostly out of sight beside the open drawer box. This is not a stainless or exterior-rated finish; keep it to dry indoor installations.
Cabinet shops building deep base or pantry cabinets will find the 28 inch length fills the gap that a 22 or 24 inch slide leaves in a long box. Contractors retrofitting existing casework with deeper-than-standard drawers get a clean non-handed solution that installs without sorting left from right. Designers specifying frameless or face-frame cabinets with extended interior depths can call out the KA 5632 knowing the 90 lb per-pair rating handles everyday kitchen, office, and utility loads. In face-frame cabinets, rear mounting brackets are required to support the back end of the slide; those brackets are sold separately and are series-specific.
No. The slide's closed length is 28 inches (700mm). Full extension means the drawer member travels approximately the full slide length — so the entire drawer clears the cabinet opening — but slide length and drawer travel are two separate specs.
No. The KA 5632 is a standard-motion slide with no self-close spring, no soft-close damper, and no hold-in detent. The drawer rides freely on ball bearings and stays wherever you leave it.
No. The slide is non-handed — both pieces in a pair are identical and either one fits either side of the drawer.
The slide requires 1/2 inch of clearance per side between the drawer box and the cabinet interior. Build the drawer box 1 inch narrower than the cabinet opening width to hit that clearance on both sides.
Yes, but face-frame installations require rear mounting brackets to support the back end of the slide. The brackets are sold separately and must be matched to the KA 5632 series.
Deep cabinets need slides built for the distance — the Hettich KA 5632 covers the 28 inch run with full extension, a 90 lb per-pair rating, and a no-fuss standard-motion design that works with whatever closing system the application calls for.
