Half overlay is the door geometry for partial-overlap applications: two doors sharing one center partition, each covering half of it. The half crank arm on this hinge positions the door at that partial overlay, leaving a consistent reveal where the doors meet and at the cabinet edges. It works on frameless boxes and face-frame cabinets alike, so it suits a mixed shop running both construction types.
The self-open function sets this hinge apart from a standard self-close version. Where a self-close spring pulls the door shut, the self-open spring pushes it open when pressed. That makes this the right hinge for handle-less fronts using a touch-latch or push-to-open catch, where pressing the door is the release action. A base plate matched to this hinge mounts to the cabinet side and the hinge arm connects to it; that plate is sold separately.

Yes. The hinge arm connects to a base plate that mounts to the cabinet side, and that plate is a separate purchase. Use a Salice plate matched to this series; plates are brand-specific and will not connect across brands.
The cup carries pre-attached dowels that press into bored holes in the door. The door needs to be bored for both the 35mm cup hole and the matching dowel holes before the hinge is fitted. No cup screws are used on the door side.
