This is a 20 inch (500mm) rectangular side railing from Grass's Nova Pro Scala drawer system, finished in Ice. It mounts along the top of a Nova Pro Scala drawer side to raise the effective interior height, retain tall contents, and carry a taller front panel on a low-profile box — all while keeping the cabinet interior looking factory-fitted.
Side railings earn their place in drawers that hold taller contents than the base side profile was sized for — a pot drawer stacked with lids, a pantry pull-out loaded with tall containers, or a bath drawer carrying upright bottles. Rather than rebuilding the box at a taller side height, adding a rectangular railing above each side extends the wall so contents ride safely through the full travel of the drawer. This 500mm railing pairs with 20 inch Nova Pro Scala side profiles and runners, so the nominal length must match the rest of your system components; mixing nominal lengths within one drawer is not supported.
The Ice finish is one of the coordinated color options Grass offers across the Nova Pro Scala program. Choosing Ice keeps the drawer interior consistent when the side profiles, front fixings, and cover caps are also spec'd in Ice — a detail that matters in open-shelf kitchens and furniture-grade casework where the inside of an open drawer is visible. The rectangular cross-section of the railing contributes to the clean, geometric interior aesthetic the Nova Pro Scala system is built around. Material specifics beyond the stated finish are not confirmed in the source data.
Cabinet shops building Nova Pro Scala kitchens with deep or tall-content drawers will reach for this railing when the base side height isn't enough to retain the specified contents. Designers working on handle-less kitchen programs in Ice often spec side railings alongside the base system to maintain the palette without changing structural components. Because the railing is system-matched and finish-coordinated, it also serves as a replacement or add-on part when a completed installation needs a railing at a previously uncovered drawer position. It is sized for 20 inch drawer depths; if your Nova Pro Scala installation uses a different nominal length, select the railing at the matching size.
The sold-as unit is not explicitly confirmed in the source data. Verify the pack quantity on the product listing before ordering — drawer side railings are typically sold as individual pieces or as left-and-right sets depending on the SKU.
No. Side railings are engineered per platform. This railing is specific to Nova Pro Scala and is not compatible with other Grass systems or other brands. Vionaro and Zargen use their own railing and gallery components.
Not necessarily. Side railings are an optional height extension. If the base side profile height already retains your drawer contents and suits your front panel, no railing is required. Add a railing when the drawer needs a taller wall or when the design calls for a gallery rail above the side profile.
You can, but a mixed-finish interior will be visible in an open drawer. For a coordinated look, match the railing finish to the side profiles, front fixings, and cover caps throughout the system.
This 500mm (20 inch) railing is sized for the 500mm nominal length in the Nova Pro Scala system. Use it with 500mm runners and side profiles — do not mix nominal lengths within one drawer installation.
Selecting the correct nominal length and finish up front keeps the Nova Pro Scala installation moving without a second order — confirm your drawer depth is 500mm and your system components are in Ice, and this railing drops straight into the build.
