This tiered drawer changes that: two levels separate forks, knives, spoons, and serving pieces into dedicated zones rather than piling them in a single flat tray. Because the slides are full-extension, the back tier comes all the way to the front of the cabinet opening, so reaching past the front row is not part of the routine. For a drawer that sits behind a cabinet door rather than a standard drawer face, the door-mount design means the whole unit moves with the door, keeping the hardware concealed inside the cabinet.
The drawer box is maple, a closed-grain hardwood with a consistent surface that holds finish well. Sand and stain or paint it to coordinate with the cabinet interior before installation. The slides are Blum soft-close, which means they pull the drawer through the last few inches of travel on their own and dampen the close so there is no slam. At 21-21/32 inches deep, the drawer uses the available cabinet depth without overrunning a standard base cabinet box.
