Knape and Vogt 8600 Series Ball Bearing Drawer Slide for Heavy-Duty Shop and Cabinet Work

This is a 12 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide from Knape and Vogt's 8600 series, rated 150 lb per pair, zinc finished, and sold in bulk packaging for shop and production use. It is the go-to choice when a standard 100 lb cabinet slide is not enough but the job calls for the clean, low-profile look of a zinc finish that disappears into the cabinet interior.

Key Features

• 150 lb weight capacity per pair — moves this slide well above the standard kitchen-cabinet class and into genuine heavy-duty territory.
• Full extension — the entire drawer travels clear of the cabinet face, putting the back of the box within reach.
• Zinc finish on steel construction — the standard corrosion-resistant finish for indoor ball bearing slides, functional and unobtrusive beside an open drawer.
• Non-handed design — both slides in the pair are identical; no left-right sorting on the bench.
• Standard motion — no self-close, soft-close, or detent; the drawer stays exactly where it is left.
• Bulk-Pack packaging — supplied loose in a carton, suited to production shops ordering by the case rather than by the pair.

Where a 150 lb Slide Earns Its Keep

At 12 inches, this slide fits the shorter drawers that come up constantly in shop furniture, base cabinets, utility carts, and storage benches. The 150 lb rating per pair handles what a loaded drawer of tools, hardware, or supplies actually weighs — not just what a lighter cabinet slide is rated to carry in ideal conditions. Full extension means the rear of the drawer is accessible without fishing around at the back, which matters on a busy shop bench as much as it does in a kitchen. Standard motion is the right call when the drawer needs to stay put at any point of travel, or when the install will be paired with a separate push-to-open mechanism that requires a free-sliding slide.

Steel and Zinc Built for Sustained Indoor Use

Steel members with a zinc finish deliver the corrosion resistance expected of side-mount ball bearing hardware in dry indoor environments. Zinc is not a decorative or stainless finish — it is the working standard for this class of slide, protective without adding visible hardware to the open-drawer profile. The ball bearings run in full-length raceways for smooth, consistent travel under load, whether the drawer is cycled a few times a day or dozens.

The Right Buyer for This Slide

Cabinet shops and contractors who build shop furniture, base units, or utility storage will find the 12 inch length and 150 lb rating a practical pairing for shorter but heavily loaded drawers. The bulk-pack format rewards volume orders: buying by the case keeps the unit price down and ensures the supply room stays stocked for ongoing production. The non-handed design simplifies inventory further — one part number covers both sides of every drawer. This slide is for indoor work; it is not rated for wet, exterior, or marine environments.

Reliable Capacity in a Compact Length

The KV 8600 series delivers a 150 lb rated pair in a 12 inch form factor, giving shops and builders a heavy-duty side-mount option for the shorter drawer runs that would otherwise be undersupported by standard cabinet slides.
