A Zinc-Finished Heavy-Duty Slide Built for Long Drawers and Real Loads

The Knape and Vogt 8600 Series is a 28 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide rated 150 lb per pair, finished in zinc for lasting indoor service. Designed for drawers that carry genuine weight across a longer run, the 8600 delivers smooth, consistent travel in kitchen base cabinets, shop storage, pantry pull-outs, and utility drawers where a standard 100 lb slide falls short.

Key Features

• 150 lb load rating per pair — moves this slide into the heavy-duty class above the standard 100 lb cabinet range.
• Full extension — the entire drawer clears the cabinet face, making the back of a 28 inch drawer fully reachable.
• Zinc finish over steel — corrosion-resistant for dry indoor environments and blends unobtrusively with cabinet interiors.
• Non-handed design — both slides in the pair are identical, so there is no left/right sorting on the bench.
• Standard motion — no damper, no spring, no detent; the drawer rides the bearings and stays wherever it is left.
• Bulk-Pack packaging — sold in trade quantities for shops running multiple drawers at once.

Where a 28 Inch, 150 lb Slide Earns Its Place

Most residential kitchen drawers run 18 to 22 inches and stay well within a 100 lb slide's range. Move to a deep pantry pull-out, a wide pots-and-pans drawer, a shop utility cabinet, or an appliance garage with a roll-out shelf, and both the drawer length and the loaded weight can climb past what a standard cabinet slide is designed for. The 8600 series addresses both: 28 inches of slide length suits deep base cabinets and full-depth pantry boxes, while the 150 lb rating covers contents that standard slides should not carry. The standard-motion design means no mechanism competes with the load — the slide simply runs on ball bearings and handles the work.

Steel Construction with a Functional Zinc Finish

Cold-formed steel members and a zinc electroplate finish make up the 8600's build. Zinc plating is the segment's standard for indoor corrosion protection — it handles the humidity fluctuations in a kitchen or a conditioned shop without surface degradation over a normal service life. The finish is a working coat, not a decorative one; it sits beside the drawer box mostly out of sight. For applications that demand a colored finish to match a white or black cabinet interior, sibling SKUs in the 8600 family offer those options.

Who Reaches for the 8600 Series

Cabinet shops and contractors building or refitting deep base cabinets with heavier storage demands are the natural buyers here. The 150 lb class covers loaded pantry shelves, stacked cookware, toolbox-style utility drawers, and shop storage without asking the installer to guess at capacity margins. The non-handed format simplifies inventory — one SKU covers both sides of every drawer — and the bulk-pack quantity suits production runs rather than single-drawer retrofits. Homeowners doing a deep base cabinet renovation will find the same spec fit; the 28 inch length and 1/2 inch side clearance per side are standard enough that measuring once is all it takes.

Heavy-Duty Capacity in a Straightforward Package

The KV 8600 Series in zinc gives production shops and working installers a 28 inch, 150 lb-rated full-extension slide with no complications — correct finish, correct load class, correct length for deep base work, and a non-handed design that keeps the bench moving.
