Zinc-Finished Steel Built for Drawers That Actually Get Loaded

This is a 14 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide from Knape and Vogt's 8600 series, rated 150 lb per pair. It brings heavy-duty load capacity to a compact 14 inch length, covering shop storage, utility cabinets, and any drawer that takes a real beating on a daily basis.

Key Features

• 150 lb load rating per pair — heavy-duty capacity well above the standard 100 lb cabinet class, without stepping up to a file-slide profile.
• Full extension — the drawer clears the cabinet opening completely, so the back of the box is accessible without reaching in blind.
• Zinc finish over steel — the segment's reliable indoor corrosion-resistance standard, functional and durable over years of shop or cabinet use.
• Non-handed design — one slide fits either side of the drawer; no sorting left from right on the bench.
• 1/2 inch side clearance per side — the standard clearance for side-mount ball bearing slides; build the drawer box 1 inch narrower than the opening.
• Bulk-Pack packaging — sold in trade quantities, suited to shops installing multiple drawers in a single run.

Where a 14 Inch, 150 lb Slide Earns Its Keep

At 14 inches, this slide fits drawers in shop base cabinets, workbench pedestals, tool storage units, and utility cabinets where the interior depth is shorter than a standard kitchen run but the contents are heavy: hardware, hand tools, fastener bins, paint supplies. The 150 lb rating means the drawer can carry a genuine working load without the slide flexing or binding over time. Full extension brings the rear of the box out past the cabinet face, so every corner of a packed drawer is reachable without lifting or tilting it. This is a standard-motion slide — no self-close, no soft-close, no detent — so the drawer stays wherever it is left, which suits work environments where a partially open drawer needs to stay that way.

Steel and Zinc Built for Indoor Service

The 8600 series is built from steel with a zinc electroplate finish. Zinc protects the steel members from the humidity and minor moisture that accumulates in garages, workshops, and utility rooms without adding the cost of a specialty finish. It is a working finish, mostly out of sight beside the drawer box, and it holds up through years of indoor use. This is not an outdoor or washdown slide — zinc plating is an indoor-grade corrosion barrier, not a stainless or powder-coated alternative for wet environments.

Right Choice for Heavy Shop and Utility Drawers

The 8600 series is the right fit when a standard 100 lb cabinet slide is undersized for the load and a file-drawer slide is more profile than the application needs. Cabinet shops running production builds, contractors stocking a work van's shop cabinet, and serious home shop builders all land on a slide like this when the contents are dense and the drawers see daily use. The Bulk-Pack format is practical here: shops installing multiple pedestals or base cabinets in one go move through pairs quickly, and buying in trade quantity keeps the project moving. In face-frame cabinets, rear mounting brackets are required to support the back end of the slide — these are sold separately and are series-specific, so confirm the bracket matches the 8600 before ordering.

A Reliable Workhorse for the Drawers That Take the Most Abuse

When the drawer carries real weight and needs to open completely every time, the 8600 series in zinc delivers the load rating, the extension, and the finish to stay in service through years of hard use.
