Knape and Vogt 8600 Series Ball Bearing Drawer Slide Built for Heavy Loads

The Knape and Vogt 8600 series is a 26 inch full-extension side-mount ball bearing drawer slide rated 150 lb per pair, finished in zinc, and sold in bulk for shops and installers running volume work. It is the right choice when a standard 100 lb cabinet slide is not enough and a clean, dependable finish matters.

Key Features

• 150 lb load rating per pair — handles heavy utility, shop, and storage drawers that would tax a standard cabinet slide.
• Full extension — the entire drawer clears the cabinet face so every inch of the interior is reachable.
• Zinc finish over steel — the standard corrosion-resistant finish for indoor ball bearing slides, functional and unobtrusive beside the open drawer.
• Non-handed design — both slides in the pair are identical, so there is no left/right sorting on the bench.
• 1/2 inch side clearance per side — the industry-standard fit for side-mount ball bearing slides.
• Bulk-Pack packaging — packaged for trade quantities, right for shops ordering across multiple jobs at once.

Where the 8600 Series Earns Its Place

At 150 lb per pair, the 8600 series sits above the standard kitchen cabinet class and is the better call for drawers that actually carry weight: a deep utility drawer loaded with hand tools, a shop bench drawer stacked with hardware, a garage cabinet holding power tool accessories, or a storage bank where the contents regularly push past what a 100 lb slide is rated to handle. Full extension means the back of a 26 inch drawer comes all the way out — nothing stays hidden at the rear of the box. The 26 inch slide length suits deeper cabinet runs, paired base cabinets, and worktable drawers where a shorter slide would leave the box unsupported.

Materials and Finish

The slide is formed from steel and finished in zinc. Zinc is the working standard for side-mount ball bearing slides used indoors: it protects the steel members through years of service and stays low-profile beside the open drawer box. This is not a decorative finish — it is a durable functional coating suited to shop, office, and utility environments. Keep it dry and indoors; zinc plating is not rated for wet or exterior use.

Who This Slide Fits Best

Cabinet shops and installers who build utility cabinetry, shop furniture, or storage solutions will find the 8600 series a straightforward go-to at the 150 lb class. The bulk-pack format makes sense for multi-drawer projects or ongoing production runs where ordering by the pair each time adds friction. Homeowners building a serious garage cabinet or workshop bench will also find this the right weight class for drawers that carry real loads. In face-frame cabinets, rear mounting brackets are required to support the back of the slide — those brackets are sold separately and are series-specific, so confirm the match before ordering.

The Right Slide When the Load Demands It

The KV 8600 series in zinc gives high-volume installers and serious shop builders a full-extension, 150 lb rated side-mount slide in bulk format — everything needed to move past the standard kitchen class without overcomplicating the order.
